NORMAN – The No. 32 Oklahoma women's tennis team heads south to open Big 12 play with two ranked matchups. The Sooners will face No. 11 Baylor in Waco on Friday at noon, followed by No. 2 Texas on Sunday, also at noon. The Texas match will be broadcast on Longhorn Network.
Matchday Storylines
- No. 32 OU (8-2) opens Big 12 play over the weekend with two top-15 road matchups at No. 11 Baylor Friday and No. 2 Texas on Sunday. Through 10 matches, OU is off to its best start under head coach Audra Cohen, who is in her fifth year at the helm for the Sooners.
- Oklahoma carries a five-match winning streak into the weekend and has dominated in those contests: a 5-2 win over Kansas (Feb. 21); a 6-1 route of SMU (Feb. 27); a 5-2 victory over No. 29 Texas Tech (March 5); a 5-2 victory at Tulsa to sweep the series with the in-state rival (March 6); and a 7-0 shutout of Wichita State.
- OU's two losses this season have come at the hands of ranked opponents as the matches came down to the wire – a 4-3 loss to then-No. 3 Texas in Norman as the final court came down to a third set on Jan. 30 and 4-3 loss at No. 24 Arizona State on Feb. 6 after Martina Capurro retired with an injury.
- The Sooners last faced Baylor on March 31, 2019 in Norman, where OU shut out the Lady Bears 7-0 to earn their first win over Baylor since 2004. OU is 4-22 all-time against Baylor. OU has beat Texas just once in program history with that win a 4-3 thriller in Austin in 2003.
