Sooners Take #11 Baylor to the Wire

WACO – The No. 32 Oklahoma women's tennis team gave No. 11 Baylor all it could handle Friday, but fell just short to the Bears in a 4-3 decision.
OU (8-3) took the doubles point and reeled off two singles wins to take a 3-1 lead in the match before Baylor came back.
In doubles, Martina Capurro and Camila Romero struck first for the Sooners, routing Baylor's Jessica Hinojosa and Alicia Herrero Linana 6-1 on court two. For the third straight match, Dana Guzman and Kianah Motosono clinched the opening point as they took down Paula Baranano and Kristinia Sorokolet 6-3 a the
No. 3 line. When play was halted, Carmen and Ivana Corley were locked in at 5-all with Mel Krywoj and Andie Shakhraichuk on court one.
Capurro was the first Sooner off the court as she ran past Shakhraichuk 6-4, 6-3 on court four. Motosono fell to Baranano 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 line and Baylor got on the board.
Guzman secured her seventh straight victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Herrero Linana on court two to push OU's lead to 3-1. Guzman's win was also good for her 10th this season and ninth in straight sets.
Baylor answered with three straight wins to take the match. OU's Carmen Corley fell to Krywoj, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at the top spot. Ivana Corley battled Hinojosa to a third set tiebreaker, but was defeated 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (4). Marcelina Podlinska dropped to Livia Kraus 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on court five.
