NORMAN — University of Oklahoma head track and field/cross country coach Tim Langford and associate head cross country coach Charmaine Darden announced OU's 2020 cross country schedule on Wednesday.
The Sooners will run in two regular season meets this fall before heading to Lawrence, Kan., for the Big 12 Cross Country Championship.
"I'm excited to get back to competition," said Langford, who is entering his second year at the helm of the OU program. "It's big for our student-athletes and big for the sport of cross country. We've been back for several weeks and training hard. The team is excited to get a few benchmarks on the way to the Big 12 Championship."
Oklahoma opens its season Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. The team will then take a two-week break before competing at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 17, also to be held in Stillwater.
Postseason competition begins on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Big 12 Championship in Lawrence, Kan.
"We've had a couple time trials to get us ready," said Darden. "Come October 3rd we're going to be ready to go and be ready for what's to come. The athletes are excited to race on the OSU course, as it's easily one of the best in the country. We're excited and can't wait for the first meet."
The NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will look to be held in the spring following the cancellation of NCAA championships this fall.
