September 16, 2020 | Men's Tennis

NORMAN –  University of Oklahoma men's tennis coach Nick Crowell and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners' 2020 fall tournament schedule Wednesday.

OU will participate in two tournaments in the state of Texas this fall.

"We are excited to compete again and get our guys some good quality matches," said Crowell. "The guys have worked extremely hard and are very anxious to play again. It's definitely an exciting time for Oklahoma Tennis."

The Sooners will head to Frisco, Texas, Sept. 18-20 for the Lakes Tennis Invitational, featuring players from Texas and Texas Tech in addition to OU.

Oklahoma will conclude the fall schedule Nov. 6-8 with the Big 12 Individual Championship at TCU.

The Sooners return six players for the 2020 fall slate in seniors Max Stewart and Jake Van Emburgh; juniors Mason Beiler and Matt Rodriguez; and sophomores Alex Martinez and Justin Schlageter. Jochen Bertsch, who received an extra season of eligibility after his senior spring campaign was shortened by COVID-19, will rejoin the squad in January for spring duals.

OU has added three newcomers in freshmen Nathan Han (Tulsa, Okla.) and Welsh Hotard (New Orleans, La.), as well as graduate transfer Jonathan Sheehy, who spent the first three seasons of his career at Abilene Christian.

The spring schedule will be released at a later date.
