XC Earns Big 12 Academic Honors

NORMAN – Eleven University of Oklahoma cross country team members were named to the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team, announced Wednesday by the conference.

On the women's side, Camilla Broman, Alison Hepp, Carson Hockersmith, Jordyn Kaplan, Madeline Medina and Elise Welch earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors. Additionally, Welch was recognized as one of 28 Big 12 student-athletes with a 4.00 grade point average. Natalie O'Brien received All-Big 12 Second Team accolades.

For the men, Lucas Badcock, Jordan Gledhill, Derek King and Ryan Teuscher were named to the All-Big 12 First Team.

Across the conference, a total of 84 women were named to the teams, while 65 men earned honors.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
