Sooners Conclude TCU Invite

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Oklahoma men's tennis team tallied 11 wins over the weekend at the TCU Invite.

On the first day of action, the Sooners shone in doubles with an 8-5 win from Alex Martinez and Max Stewart over TCU's Jake Fearnley and Juan Martin and Nathan Han and Jonathan Sheehy's 8-5 win over Horned Frogs Max Kurzban and Luc Fomba.

In singles, Justin Schlageter outlasted Kurzban of TCU in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, while freshman Nathan Han notched a win over Baylor's Nick Stachowiak, 6-4, 6-1. Stachowiak was ranked in the ITA top 100 last season. Fellow newcomer Welsh Hotard held on for a 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-4 win over Sebastian Nothhaft (Baylor).

Schlageter and Jake Van Emburgh picked up a doubles win over Baylor's Stachowiak and Broom, 8-6, on day two. Mason Beiler took out Texas's Cleeve Harper 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in singles action. Hotard picked up another victory as he defeated Longhorn Nevin Armilli, 7-5, 6-3 and Matt Rodriguez rolled past Texas' Leighton Allen, 6-1, 6-3.

OU closed out the tournament with a pair of singles wins on day three. Martinez defeated Oklahoma State's Emile Hudd 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 and Han gave up just one game in a win over the Cowboys' Etienne Donnet, 6-0, 6-1.

The Sooners will hit the court one last time for the fall season for the Big 12 Individual Championships, hosted by TCU Nov. 6-8.
