NORMAN – The No. 21 Oklahoma men's tennis team notched its fifth straight win Saturday when it downed Charlotte 6-1 at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

OU (11-3) opened the match with the doubles point then picked up five singles wins to seal the deal.

"Charlotte was a really good opportunity for our guys. They pushed us outside," said OU head coach Nick Crowell. "It was good for us to play outdoors and get a match under our belt before we go on the road. I think we're continuing to pick up our doubles and we're going to continue to grow as we move through the season.”

In doubles, Jochen Bertsch and Stefano Tsorotiotis struck first with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 line. Spencer Papa and Matt Rodriguez sealed the opening point with a 6-3 win over Benjamin Wayand and Ignaci de Rueda on court two.

When play was halted, Alex Bakshi and Ferran Calvo trailed Luca Keist and Constandinos Christoforou 4-5.

Tsorotiotis was the first Sooner off the court in singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Wayand on court four. The victory was good for the sophomore's third straight.

Beiler pushed his winning streak to four matches with a win over Oliver Sec on court five. The freshman took set one handily 6-1, but trailed 4-2 in the second before winning four straight games to close out his match. Beiler remains undefeated (6-0) at the No. 5 line.

No. 62 Papa took down No. 84 Keist at the top spot, 6-4, 6-4. The victory was good for his second over a ranked opponent this season.

Calvo got a win on court two, defeating de Reda in straight sets. The senior came out on top of a tight first set 7-5 before dominating the second 6-1.

Max Stewart was the cherry on top for the Sooners, holding on to defeat Henry Lieberman 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).

OU is on the road for a pair of matches. The Sooners will face Texas A&M in a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m., followed by a trip to North Carolina Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
