NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma cross country teams concluded their 2019 season on Friday morning in Stillwater, Okla., at the NCAA Midwest Regional on the OSU Cross Country Course.
The Sooners' women's team finished 32nd at the 6K meet, led by sophomore Elise Boisvert's 123rd-place finish in 22:54.3. The women finished in an average time of 24:20.
Three OU men competed individually in the 10K race at the regional. Senior Tyler Phillips led the way for the men, finishing 124th in 33:24.4, while sophomore Jordan Gledhill placed 150th (34:01.3) and senior Andrew Doherty crossed the line 167th (34:32.9).
"The men's team has been fighting through different health conditions the last few weeks," OU associate head XC coach Charmaine Darden said following the races. "As a result, we only brought those who were healthy enough to compete today. They performed very well considering their circumstances.
"Both teams were very positive going into this race. Unfortunately, one of our top women was injured during the race and did not finish. Overall, we came and competed. Now it's time to rest and get ready for the indoor track season."
OU cross country finishes its 2019 campaign with five top-15 finishes as a team, including two top-five spots as a group and 13 Big 12 All-Academic honorees.
