NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country team returned to the course Saturday morning at the Chile Pepper XC Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
Sophomore Elise Boisvert led the women's squad to a 17th place finish in the 5,000-meter race, with an average time of 18:39 and total time of 1:33:18. Boisvert finished in 77th place with a time of 18:06:2.
The men's team placed 28th in the 8,000-meter race, paced by redshirt senior Zach Gentry. Gentry finished in the 92nd spot out of 304 runners, recording a 25:27:6 finish. The men's squad finished in an average time of 26:03 and total time of 2:10:17.
Freshman Madeline Medina was the next Sooner to cross the line on the women's side, finishing with a time of 18:21.2.
On the men's side, senior Tyler Phillips came in 12 spots behind redshirt senior Zach Gentry, recording a time of 25:38.4.
The Sooners cross country teams return to the course Oct. 19 at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
