October 20, 2019 | Women's Golf

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf is back in action Sunday when it opens play at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas. The 54-hole tournament will be held over two days at the par-72, 6,033-yard Kissing Tree Golf Club.

The Sooners are competing in the Jim West Challenge for the sixth straight season and have claimed top-4 finishes in the past two editions of the event.

"We are back at a course we enjoy playing and have a great game plan," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "We need to find our rhythm and have fun. The best rounds we've had this semester were the ones where we played freely and had confidence in our abilities. This week is no different."

OU is coming off a sixth-place showing at the Illini Women's Invitational. Junior Kaitlin Milligan claimed second place in the event.

Oklahoma is joined in the field by Florida State, Houston, Memphis, Miami (FL), Missouri, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, UTSA and UNLV.

The Sooners open play with 36 holes of continuous play on Sunday, utilizing a shotgun start at 8:30. Oklahoma will be paired with golfers from Houston and host Texas State.
