DALLAS – Oklahoma women's golf finished sixth in a 16-team field at the Huntington Bank Collegiate on Tuesday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The Sooners closed the 54-hole event at 5-under 859 after opening with rounds of 285 and 284 on Monday. Oklahoma carded a 290 in Tuesday's final round to secure a top 10 finish.
"I'm proud of the way we competed this week," head coach
Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. "We put ourselves in a good position after the first two rounds and continued to fight through the final round."
Senior
Gracie Mayo led the Sooners, finishing 12th at 4-under 212 after rounds of 68 (-4), 70 (-2) and 74 (+2). Mayo paced Oklahoma through the first two rounds and remained inside the top 15 on the final leaderboard.
Reagan Chaney delivered a steady performance for Oklahoma, tying for 17th at 1-under 215 with rounds of 71 (-1), 72 (E) and 72 (E).
True freshman Satongkan (Earn) Thiengsri finished tied for 26th at 1-over 217 after rebounding from an opening-round 75 (+3) with back-to-back rounds of 71 (-1) to close the tournament.
Audrey Rischer turned in a consistent outing for the Sooners, tying for 34th at 3-over 219 after posting rounds of 73 (+1) in all three rounds.
Savannah Barber also tied for 34th at 3-over 219, carding rounds of 73 (+1), 71 (-1) and 75 (+3).
Oklahoma State claimed the team title at 25-under, followed by SMU at 22-under and No. 15 UCLA at 18-under.
The Sooners return to action April 17-21 at the SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.
