GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Oklahoma finished sixth among 14 teams at the Gator Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla., on Sunday.
The Sooners (6, +30) were led by
Savannah Barber and
Reagan Chaney, who each tied for 19th at 6-over. Satongkan (Earn) Thiensgri added a top-30 finish for Oklahoma, placing 30th at 8-over. Oklahoma posted rounds of 289-294-287 to finish at 30-over at the 54-hole event played at the par-70 track.
"I'm proud of the way we finished the tournament today," head coach
Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. "We were able to post our best round of the week in the final round, which shows the team stayed patient and continued to compete. This was a strong field and a good opportunity for us to continue building momentum this spring."
Barber (T19, +6) carded rounds of 70-75-71 to tie for 19th. The senior opened the tournament with an even-par 70 and closed with a 71 in the final round, highlighted by steady play across the final 18 holes.
Chaney (T19, +6) finished alongside Barber after posting rounds of 70-74-72. The senior opened with an even-par 70 in the first round and followed with consistent play throughout the tournament to secure her top-20 finish.
Thiensgri (30, +8) turned in rounds of 75-72-71. The freshman improved each day of the tournament and closed the week with a 71 in the final round.
Audrey Rischer finished 53rd at 17-over (74-80-73).
Gracie Mayo rounded out the lineup in 69th at 22-over (82-73-77).
Competing as an individual,
Raychel Nelke finished 72nd with rounds of 75-79-80.
Host team No. 7 Florida won the team title at 20-under, followed by Virginia (-2) and No. 14 North Carolina (E). Miami (+28) and No. 43 Clemson (+29) rounded out the top five.
The Sooners head to Austin, Texas, to play in the Betsy Rawls Invitational at UT Golf Club March 16–17.
