Herberg Ready to Run at NCAA Championships

November 16, 2018 | Cross Country

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma cross country freshman Haley Herberg is set to compete at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday morning in Madison, Wis.

Herberg will race in the women's 6K at 10:45 a.m. CT on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course. The Sooners' freshman qualified for the championships via an automatic berth as one of the top four individual finishers not on an advancing team at regionals. She took fifth in the 6K at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships last weekend in Peoria, Ill., crossing the line in 20:26.7.

“I really would like to get in the top 40," said Herberg. "Nationals is so competitive; I could be in 15th place and then 60th the next second. My goal is just to run all out and take a shot at it and hopefully get top 40.”

The California native has had an exceptional season for Oklahoma, registering four top-five individual finishes and collecting All-Big 12 and All-Region honors.

A live stream of the NCAA Championships will be available on a subscription basis through FloTrack. Live results will be available via Record Timing and SoonerSports.com following the meet.
