Sooner Men Stay Strong At No. 4

The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team remained at the No. 4 spot nationally, with 315 points, in the latest poll released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) the New Orleans, La., based office announced today.

The Sooners follow No. 1 Wisconsin (355), No. 2 Oklahoma State (346) and No. 3 BYU (343). Portland rounds out the top-five behind Oklahoma with 295 points.

Additionally, the men's squad maintained its second-place spot in the Midwest region behind in-state foe Oklahoma State.

The group last competed at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 22 in Charlottesville, Va., which resulted in a Sooner victory. Redshirt senior Bill Kogel lead the Crimson and Cream with his second place finish, while seniors Riley Masters and Kyle King roundowd out the top-10 OU finishers. A pair of sophomores in Ryan Poland and Daniel Niccolls and freshmen Brandon Doughty and Dan Shubert followed.

The Sooner men will hit the road in two weeks for the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 12.
