Sooner Men Remain At No. 4

The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team remains at the No. 4 spot nationally, with 310 points, in the latest rankings provided by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) the New Orleans, La., based office announced today.

The Sooners follow No. 1 Wisconsin (357), No. 2 Oklahoma State (346) and No. 3 BYU (341). Portland rounds out the top-five behind Oklahoma with 298 points.

Additionally, the men's squad maintains their second-place spot in the Midwest region behind in-state foe Oklahoma State.

The group last competed at the Hurricane Cross Country Festival on Sept. 1 in Tulsa, Okla., which saw redshirt freshmen Brandon Doughty, Dan Shubert and Daniel Mazar join forces with redshirt sophomore Malcolm Wankel and senior Patrick Gomez to run against Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Northwestern State and John Brown.

The Sooner men will hit the road next weekend for the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, Sept. 22.
