Cross Country Women in Missouri

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's cross country team heads to Joplin, Mo. for the 2008 Missouri Southern Stampede this Saturday, Sept. 20.

The Sooner women will compete against host team Missouri Southern as well as nationally-ranked Arkansas and local teams Tulsa, Southern Nazarene, Oklahoma City University and Central Oklahoma.

The 5,000 meter competition at the Missouri Southern Cross Country Course will begin at 9 a.m. (CST).

The women are led by sophomore Kelly Waters, who led the Sooner squad by claiming the individual title at the season-opening Hurricane Festival in Tulsa, Okla.

Kansas State transfer Lindsey Pierson and junior Lauren Watson will try to improve on their top-ten finishes at the Hurricane Festival. Senior Amanda Mayfield, sophomore Chelsea Jones and freshman Natalie Crain round out the OU women's contingent on Saturday.
