Cross Country to Compete in Stillwater

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams head to Stillwater, Okla., this Saturday, Oct. 4, for the 2008 Cowboy Jamboree.

The Jamboree will be held at the Oklahoma State cross country course with the men covering 8,000 meters and the women 6,000. The event starts at 8:00 a.m. with college/junior college action, with the collegiate women set to go at 9:10 a.m. and the collegiate men rounding out the action at 9:45 a.m.

The Sooner women are led by sophomore Kelly Waters, who took second place at the Missouri Southern Stampede with a time of 17:15 and has yet to finish lower than second on the season.
Other Sooner women competing in the event include: Natalie Crain, Jessica Engel, Chelsea Jones, Amanda Mayfield, Lindsay Pierson and Lauren Watson.

The Sooner men, who finished second at the Arkansas/Missouri Southern State Dual last month, have a stable of quality runners. They are led by newcomer Andres Gonzalez who recorded a time of 21:27.2 at the Missouri Southern Dual.

Other Sooner men competing in the event include: Cole Crosby, Aaron Goble and Connor Wann.
The Sooner's will compete against a number of ranked teams this Saturday. The women will take on No. 21 Texas Tech and No. 24 Northern Arizona the men take on the host team, No. 8 Oklahoma State, and No. 5 Arkansas.
