NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's cross country team heads to Fayetteville, Ark., this Saturday, Oct. 18, for the 2008 Chili Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.

The Sooner women will face off against 41 teams, including nationally-ranked Arkansas and Texas Tech as well as Big 12 Conference foes Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Texas.

The 6,000 meter competition will be held at Agri Park and will begin at 10:30 a.m. (CST).

The women look to improve upon their top-10 finish at the Cowboy Jamboree two weeks ago. They are led by sophomore Kelly Waters, who finished eighth at the Jamboree with a time of 21 minutes and 28 seconds. Waters has yet to finish outside the top-ten this season.

Other Sooner women competing this weekend include: Lindsay Pierson, Amanda Mayfield, Chelsea Jones, Lauren Watson and Jessica Engel. Engel was one of the top-30 runners at the Jamboree with a time of 22:13.

A complete recap and full results will be available on SoonerSports.com shortly after the conclusion of the event.
