IRVING, Texas The Big 12 Conference announced its 2006 Cross Country All-Academic Teams Tuesday, and all six Sooners eligible for the honors made the list.

University of Oklahoma juniors Jason Coleman (Watonga, Okla.) and Jason Penland (Flower Mound, Texas) were nominated to the men's first team.

Juniors Kristi Cook (Flower Mound, Texas) and Catherine Odell (Enid, Okla.) made the women's first team and senior Aja Clark (Ardmore, Okla.) and junior Jessica Eldridge (Broken Arrow, Okla.) were named to the women's second team.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 or higher GPA (either cumulative or for the past two semesters) and must have participated in at least 60 percent of his or her team's contests.  Freshman and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.  Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except participation are also eligible.

For the first time in its history, the University of Kansas will host the Big 12 Cross Country Championships at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Friday, Oct. 27.  Rim Rock Farm also hosted the 1998 NCAA National Championships as well as three Big Eight Conference Championships.

Colorado has dominated the Big 12 cross country scene the past decade.  The CU men have won all 10 titles while the women have captured nine of 10 championship crowns.  Kansas State won the women's title in 1998.
