NORMAN, Okla. - The OU men's and women's cross country teams will head south this Saturday for the UTA Open hosted by the University of Texas-Arlington. The women start at 8 a.m. with a two-mile run and the men's four-mile race will begin at approximately 8:20 a.m.

The Sooners will compete against a field that includes Baylor, Southern Methodist and North Texas as well as host UTA. The meet will take place at Vandergriff Park in Arlington, Texas.

Joey McNair led the Sooner men to a second-place team finish at the Hurricane Invitational in the season opener last Friday. He posted a career-best time of 20:31 in the four-mile race and finished in second place individually, another collegiate best for the sophomore. Sean Culp and Andrew Call both turned in times of 21:33 for sixth- and seventh-place finishes respectively.

On the women's side, junior Kelli O'Rourke finished with a career-best time of 11:58 in the two-mile run, good for 10th overall. Junior Joni Alexander posted a time of 12:18 in her debut as a Sooner.

Both teams will travel to Joplin, Mo., for the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 15. The Stampede will mark the last meet until the Sooners head to Stillwater Sept. 29 for the Cowboy Jamboree.

The Sooners will host the Big 12 Preview on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at Jimmie Austin Golf Course, then will host the Big 12 Championship on the same course on Oct. 27. The conference meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
