AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-16):
Wrestled at 125 pounds … Finished his sophomore campaign with a 21-7 record, including an 11-4 mark in dual competition … Earned All-America honors in his first trip to the NCAA Championships … Finished in seventh place at the NCAA Championships … Defeated Eddie Klimara of Oklahoma State, 5-4, in the championship bout of the Big 12 Championship to earn his first conference crown … Earned the Most Improved Award at the annual spring banquet … Posted a 13-4 record against ranked opponents … Strung together six consecutive dual wins from Jan. 9 – Feb. 5, including five over ranked opponents … Named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Feb. 10 … Posted a sixth-place finish in the 125-pound division at the Cliff Keen Invitational.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014-15):
Competed at 125 pounds … Posted a 16-15 overall record, including a 5-9 dual mark … One of four true freshmen consistently in OU’s starting lineup … Finished as the runner-up at Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational as OU won its 16th straight team title at the tournament … Placed sixth at the Reno Tournament of Champions, helping the Sooners to a sixth-place finish at the event … Finished second at inaugural Aloha Open … Faced tough competition throughout the year, facing eight wrestlers ranked within the top 20 by Intermat, including his last four opponents of the regular season … Of his losses, 13 came by decision … Recorded four major decisions, three technical falls and four falls on the season.
