Sooners Bounce Back with Win Over Bucknell

November 15, 2025 | Wrestling

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 18 Oklahoma wrestling team earned its first dual win of the season Saturday evening, defeating Bucknell 18-12 inside Davis Gym.

In a dual marked by momentum swings and no bonus points on either side, the Sooners (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) opened with three straight victories to build a 9-0 lead. The Bison (0-2, 0-0 Patriot) responded by taking the next four bouts to jump ahead 12-9, but Oklahoma's senior upperweights delivered wins in the final three matches to preserve OU's perfect all-time record against Bucknell, now 5-0.

At 125 pounds, redshirt sophomore Conrad Hendriksen (1-1) set the tone in his first dual victory since Jan. 27, 2024. Facing Chris Nucifora, Hendriksen controlled the action throughout and used a key second-period single-leg takedown to secure a 4-1 decision.

Newcomers Tyson Charmoli (133) and Tyler Wells (141) followed with dramatic finishes, each scoring decisive takedowns in the closing seconds of the third period. The Minnesota natives earned their first dual wins as Sooners – Charmoli with a 4-1 decision over Ty Kapusta and Wells with a 7-5 victory over No. 18 and three-time NCAA qualifier Dylan Chappell.

After Bucknell took its first lead of the night, No. 13 Brian Soldano made his Oklahoma dual debut at 184 pounds against Tyler Bienus. Trailing 3-2 entering the third period, Soldano surged with a four-point near fall and added riding time to prevail 7-3 and knot the dual at 12-12.

At 197, No. 8 DJ Parker responded from his first loss of the season with a gritty 6-5 win over No. 11 Dillon Bechtold.

No. 24 Juan Mora clinched the dual at heavyweight, using a first-period takedown and a pair of third-period escapes to close out a 5-2 decision.
