Kyle Walton enters his fifthĀ season as volunteer assistant at Oklahoma. After being named to head coach Lindsey Gray-Walton's inaugural staff, Walton was a part of the Sooners’ record turnaround in 2018.

With Walton's assistance in 2021, four sooners -Ā Paige Anderson, Payton Dunn, Callie Kemohah and Megan Wilson -Ā were named All-Big 12 honorees.Ā Wilson was also named AVCAĀ Southwest Region Freshman of the Year, becoming theĀ third freshman in program history to earn this honor. In the classroom, nine soonersĀ earned Academic All-Big 12 first-team honors for the second-straight season.

During the 2020 season,Ā Guewe Diouf and Keyton KinleyĀ earned All-Big 12 honors. Additionally, Diouf was named the AVCAĀ Southwest Region Freshman of the Year. NineĀ Sooners also earned Academic All-Big 12 first-team honors, while the four-memberĀ freshmen class earned Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honors.

In 2019, a program-record five Sooners earned All-Big 12 recognition while four were named AVCA All-Southwest Region honorees. Additionally, Kinley was named the Big 12 Libero of the Year. Kinley and Brianna Kadiku earned a pair of Big 12 weekly honors in 2019.

With Walton’s assistance in 2018, four Sooners earned All-Big 12 recognition while three were AVCA All-Southwest Region first team honorees. Additionally, Kinley, Kadiku and Kylee McLaughlin combined to earn five Big 12 weekly honors in 2018. Additionally, Kinley was named an AVCA All-America honorable mention.

Before OU, Walton served as the head coach at Transylvania in Lexington, Ky. from 2014-17. Coaching in the Division III Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, he led the Pioneers to a 60-54 record over his four seasons there, including a 20-10 mark in 2017. At the Division I level, Walton worked as an assistant coach for seven seasons at four institutions, including Southern Illinois, Saint Louis, Louisville and Kentucky. He also served as facility director and director of volleyball operations at Synergy Sports in Toledo, Ohio and cut his teeth coaching on the club circuit.

Walton graduated from Otterbein College in 2005 with a degree in sports management. He was part of the Cardinals’ 2002 men’s basketball Division III National Championship team.
