NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's and women's track & field team capped off the Owen Hewett Invitational on Friday night at the Mosier Indoor Track & Field Facility, highlighted by two school records from
Kennedy Clarke (weight throw) and
Kennedy Stringfellow (long jump).
Stringfellow made waves during his second appearance on the runway as a Sooner, jumping 8.29m (27'2.50"), shattering the previous school record and earning the title of current world and NCAA leader.
Clarke's final throw of 21.34m (70'00.25") etched her name on the top of the OU history list and positioned her at No. 11 in the NCAA.
Brendon See opened the meet for the Sooners, securing the men's weight throw invitational title with his toss of 20.59m (67'6.75").
Making his season debut in the men's triple jump invite section, senior
BJ Green took the event title with his leap of 16.36m (53'8.25"), while junior
Awakhiwe Ndlovu PR'd with a 15.15m (49'8.50") for a third-place finish.
In the women's 60m final,
Morgan Little crossed the line in 7.44 for a first-place finish.
Two Sooners recorded personal bests in the women's 60mH finals, Senior
Ally Stephenson (8.45) and Graduate Student
Chloe Rodriguez (8.72).
Junior
Colton Rhodes earned the event title for the men's pole vault invite section, clearing 5.40m (18'2.50"), good for No. 7 in OU history and a personal-best.
In the men's shot put invite final,
Tucker Smith threw 18.20m (59'0.85"), securing the win.
Junior jumper
Kyren Washington earned the men's high jump title with his clearance of 2.21m (7'3.00"), moving his name up to No. 3 in Oklahoma history.
In the women's pole vault invite section, sophomore
Jacelyn Neighbors earned the event title and moved her name to No. 6 in OU history with her clearance of 4.20m (13'9.25"), while freshman
Lilly Samanski marked a PR of 4.05m (13'3.50").
Sophomore
Tyley Dotson added to the Sooner success, winning the women's shot put title with her personal-best throw of 15.26m (50'00.75").
In the women's long jump invite section,
Morgan Little (6.31m (20'8.50")) and
Ally Stephenson (6.18m (20'3.50")) both secured personal records. Little improved her position to No. 5 in OU history.
The Sooners return to action next Friday, Jan. 23, in two locations. The sprints and distance groups travel to Lubbock, Texas, for the Stan Scott Invitational, while the rest of the team stays home to host the 24th annual JD Martin Invitational.
