NORMAN — The Oklahoma track and field team found success Thursday at the 24th annual JD Martin Invitational, highlighted by four top-ten marks in OU history and 14 individual event titles.
Redshirt sophomore
Tyley Dotson secured the first event win of the day for the Sooners, taking the women's shot put title with her throw of 15.12m (49'7.25"). Senior
Ally Stephenson earned a personal best in the event with her toss of 10.13m (33'3.00").
Two Sooners earned personal bests in the women's long jump with freshman
Ashley Lister leaping 5.99m (19'8.00") for a sixth-place finish and senior
Nebtom N'Da soaring 5.98m (19'7.50") to claim seventh.
The OU women's pole vault squad duplicated their results from last week, sweeping the podium with the same heights. Sophomore
Jacelyn Neighbors won the event, clearing 4.20m (14'0.5"), while freshman
Lilly Samanski and senior
Tessani Foster followed, both clearing 4.05m (13'3.50").
Sophomore
Niqualas Chew entered the OU top performances list at No. 9 with his leap of 7.67m (25'2.00") in the men's long jump, good for No. 15 nationally and No. 7 in the SEC.
The Sooners swept the podium in the women's mile, with sophomore
Abby Jepchirchir (4:53.98) taking the crown, followed by senior
Montana Monk (5:00.67) and sophomore
Mary Van Dyke (5:00.89).
On the track, sophomore
Ronald Ngetich crossed first in the men's mile with his time of 4:17.93. Graduate transfer
Chloe Rodriguez won the women's 400 meters with her time of 56.4 seconds.
Jane Watkins followed closely behind in the women's 400 with a personal-best time of 59.6 seconds.
Senior
Kel McDavid won the women's 800 meters with her time of 2:15.49 and sophomore
Mia McGlade finished second in 2:21.25.
In his first appearance as a Sooner, graduate transfer
Ahmed Kadri took the men's 800 meters title with his time of 1:53.49, and
Hayden Gray followed close behind (1:54.55) for a second-place finish.
Junior
Morgan Little won the women's 60-meter final with her time of 7.45 seconds. Freshman
Jordan Atkinson finished third with a personal-best time of 7.49.
Rodriguez added another season win, finishing the 60-meter hurdle finals in 8.82 seconds.
Junior
Tyson Ritz continued to impress this season, moving his name up to No. 4 in OU history with his clearance of 2.20m (7'2.75") in the men's high jump, good for No. 6 in the nation and fifth in the SEC.
Floyd Whitaker earned the men's triple jump title with his leap of 16.36m (53'8.25") and
Awakhiwe Ndlovu jumped a personal-best 15.54m (51'0.00") to claim third.
The flight crew continued to impress in the pole vault.
Hilton Green cleared a personal best 5.50m (18'0.50") to tie for second in OU history and No. 13 in this season's national rankings, along with third in the SEC.
Colton Rhodes also matched a personal-best height of 5.40m (17'8.50").
Brendon See improved his mark at No. 2 in OU history with a toss of 21.20m (69'2.75") in the men's weight throw.
The Sooners return to action next weekend at the Deloss Dodds Invitational hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., Jan. 30-31.
