Sooner Tennis Prepped for ITA All-American Championships

NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team begins its campaign at the ITA All-American Championships this weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The pre-qualifying round of competition begins on Saturday, Sept. 20. Four Sooners will compete in the pre-qualifying singles draw: senior Bruno Nhavene, juniors Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki and sophomore Alejandro Melero.
The qualifying round kicks off on Monday, Sept. 22 with sophomore Orel Kimhi representing Oklahoma on the singles side. Melero and Harazaki will play together in the doubles draw.
Fans can follow the pre-qualifying and qualifying matches via live stream or live scoring.
Main draw matches start on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Senior Luis Alvarez and sophomore Oscar Lacides will play in the singles bracket while Lacides and Nhavene will team up in the doubles bracket.

The ITA All-American Championships are one of three qualifying tournaments for the NCAA Individual Championships from Nov. 18-23.
Ten singles players will advance to the NCAA Individual Championships, eight being main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists. Four doubles teams that advance to the semifinals will earn positions in the NCAA Individual Championships.
