NORMAN – Seven Oklahoma women's tennis players have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and the Sooners have earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for the 15th time, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday.
Emma Staker, Ava Catanzarite, Alina Shcherbinina, Chloé Noël, Roisin Gilheany, Emma Ghirardato, and Cara Mester received Scholar-Athlete recognition for maintaining a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year.
Catanzarite, Staker, and Ghirardato each posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. This marks the fourth Scholar-Athlete honor for both Catanzarite and Staker, the second for Shcherbinina and Gilheany, and the first for Noël, Ghirardato, and Mester.
With a 3.60 cumulative team GPA, Oklahoma was named an ITA All-Academic Team. The Sooners have received the team honor every year since 2011 and in 26 of the last 27 seasons.
