NORMAN -- The Oklahoma men's team is set to host the ITA Central Regional Championship from Oct. 8-12 at the Headington Family Tennis Center. The teams traveling to compete in the regional are Nebraska, Arkansas, Memphis, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Wichita State, North Dakota, Creighton and Omaha.
Competition begins on Wednesday with qualifying with the first match beginning at 8 a.m. CT. Main draw competition begins on Thursday and all eight Sooners will appear in both the singles and doubles draws.Ā

Bruno Nhavene,
Asahi Harazaki,
Hank Trondson,
Alejandro Melero,
Orel Kimhi,
Oscar Lacides and
Johan Rodriguez will all compete for the singles title. The Sooner doubles pairs will be Alvarez and Melero, Nhavene and Lacides, Harazaki and Trondson and Kimhi and Rodriguez.

In last year's regional championship, Lacides claimed the singles co-champion title and the doubles champion title with Nhavene. Lacides advanced in both the singles and doubles brackets to play in the NCAA Individual Championships with Nhavene.
The ITA Central Regional is one of three qualifying tournaments for the NCAA Individual Championships. The tournament will be held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida from Nov. 18-23. Singles and doubles finalists from the regional advance to the NCAA competition.
