NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team will send four players to compete in this weekend's 48th edition of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, which takes place from Sept. 27-29.
Freshmen Emma Ghirardato, Salakthip Ounmuang and Gloriana Nahum will join sophomore Roisin Gilheany in Milwaukee for the longest running collegiate tennis tournament in the country outside of the NCAA Tournament.
Including Oklahoma, 11 Division I teams will compete in the tournament, which will be held at the Nicolet Tennis Center. Other teams include Cincinnati, Washington State, Houston, Navy, Purdue, Lipscomb, Marquette, Ole Miss, Wisconsin and Tennessee.
The respective draws feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams, all of which will be announced Thursday night. Two rounds of the singles draw will be played on Friday and Saturday, culminating in Sunday's final match. Consolation matches will also take place throughout the weekend. Play begins at 9 a.m. CT daily.
The Sooners have a history of success at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, as former Sooners Oleksandra Korashvili and Jasmine Asghar took home the doubles title in 2019.
