Play Suspended; Sooners in Sixth at Schooner

NORMAN – After torrential rainfall during the second round of the Schooner Fall Classic, play was suspended on Sunday at Belmar Golf Club.

The event will conclude on Monday, Sept. 23 with a 9:30 or 11 a.m. start, depending on course conditions. If the tournament can resume at 9:30 a.m., the field will start the third round, discarding scores from the second round. If the conditions do not allow for the completion of an entire round, the field will resume second round play at 11 a.m.

The Sooners entered the second round in sixth and remain in that position after the shortened second round. Freshman Audrey Rischer tallied a birdie on the second and completed four holes before the delay, moving up four spots to 12th (-1).

Junior Gracie Mayo recorded a birdie on the first hole and ended with four consecutive pars. Mayo and senior Reagan Chaney are tied for 17th (E). Chaney tallied four straight pars to open the second round.

Sophomore Emily Hun is in 34th (+2) and even through six holes, tallying two birdies and two bogeys. Junior Savannah Barber opened the round with two bogeys before a birdie on the third hole and is in 46th (+3)

In addition to the five Sooners in the lineup, OU has four individuals in the field.

Junior MaKayla Tyrrell is in sixth (-3), recording four birdies in the second round. Tyrrell opened with a birdie on No. 10 before a bogey on the 13th. She tallied back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes and moved to 3-under after her fourth birdie on the 17th.

Redshirt sophomore Raychel Nelke and sophomore Holly McLean completed nine and eight holes, respectively, and are tied for 34th (+2). Nelke tapped in a birdie on the 10th hole and moved back to even after a bogey on the 14th before four straight pairs to wrap up the back nine.

Junior Isabelle Schlick is in 70th (7-over) and 2-over through eight with a birdie on the 10th hole.
