Sooners in Sixth After Schooner First Round

NORMAN – Senior Reagan Chaney and freshman Audrey Rischer wrapped up the opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic in 16th (even, 70) and Oklahoma women's golf finished sixth (3-over, 283) at Belmar Golf Club. The Sooners are one stroke back of fifth-place Wisconsin.
Rischer recorded a team-high six birdies, including back-to-back on the fourth and fifth holes and the eighth and ninth. She finished the front nine 2-under 34 and notched her final two birdies on 12th and 14th holes. Rischer suffered a three-stroke setback on the 16th and a bogey on the 18th, concluding the back nine 2-over 36.
Chaney tallied two birdies on the front nine, finishing 1-under 35 after a birdie on nine. She recorded eight pars on the back nine, including six consecutive to conclude her round.
Junior Gracie Mayo finished 28th (1-over, 71). Mayo shot a 2-over 38 on the front nine and dropped two strokes on the 10th. After the setback, she tallied consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes. Mayo tallied her third birdie of the back nine on the 16th and finished the back nine 1-under 33.
Sophomore Emily Hun and junior Savannah Barber tied for 37th (2-over, 72). Hun tallied three birdies, including two on the front nine. After opening her round with a birdie, Barber suffered a setback on the third before 12-straight pars.
Junior MaKayla Tyrrell and sophomore Holly McLean competed as individuals and finished the first 18 in ninth (1-under, 69). Tyrrell tallied the first of her three birdies on the second hole and finished the front nine even par 36. She recorded birdies on the 10th and 12th before a bogey on the 14th. After two bogeys on the front nine, McLean tallied a trio of birdies on the back nine, finishing 3-under 31 in her final nine holes.
Redshirt sophomore Raychel Nelke and junior Isabelle Schlick finished 37th (2-over, 72) and 67th (5-over, 75), respectively.
