Sooners Head to Tulsa for ITA All-American Championships

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team is set to begin their campaign at the ITA Men's All-American Championships Saturday, Sept. 21-29 at Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Four student-athletes will represent the Sooners at the tournament, including senior Jordan Hasson, junior Luis Alvarez, sophomore Kholo Montsi and freshman Oscar Lacides.

Hasson and Lacides kick off the tournament for Oklahoma in the singles pre-qualifying round on Saturday with Hasson taking his first serve at 8 a.m. against Michigan State's Taym Alazmeh. Lacides follows at 12 p.m. where he is matched up against UC Berkeley's Timofey Stepanov.

Montsi and Alvarez compete in the doubles pre-qualifying round on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. as they take on South Carolina's Lucas Andrade da Silva and Jelani Sarr.

The qualifying round of the tournament begins on Monday and will see Alvarez competing in the singles draw. 

The main draw of the tournament kicks off on Wednesday where Montsi will begin his singles run. 

The eight men's and women's singles quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists, plus the four doubles semifinalists for each gender will earn automatic entry into the NCAA Division I Individual Championships from Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
