September 12, 2024 | Men's Tennis
NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team is set to start fall competition this weekend as they head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the SEC Fall Invite from Sept. 13-15.
The student-athletes representing the Sooners in Tuscaloosa are sophomores Asahi Harazaki and Hank Trondson and newcomers Bruno Nhavene and Oscar Lacides.
Harazaki and Trondson start the fall after an impressive 15-3 overall record last season. The pair claimed the No. 3 doubles position conference champion title after going 5-2 in league play.
Nhavene, a junior transfer and three-time national champion at Cowley College, begins his career as a Sooner at the SEC Fall Invite. Freshman Lacides is set to start his collegiate campaign in Tuscaloosa.
The SEC Fall Invite features seven other SEC schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.
The tournament will be played in a compass style with three doubles and three singles matches for each athlete over the course of the weekend. There will be two draws of eight doubles teams and one draw of four doubles teams which will be played as a round robin. The winners of the challenge-style tournament will be announced Sunday.
The tournament can be followed through live stats or live stream.
Draws for the tournament will be provided prior to the start of the tournament on Friday.
