Guzman Named ITA Central Region Senior Player of the Year

NORMAN — Oklahoma's Dana Guzman was named the ITA Central Region Senior Player of the Year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Wednesday.
The prestigious honor is presented to men and women student-athletes who have had an extraordinary final year of athletic eligibility while contributing to his or her team in leadership, sportsmanship, and overall performance.
Guzman, from Arequipa, Peru, concluded her final collegiate season with a 16-1 singles record in duals, including six wins against ranked opponents, while competing from the No. 1-4 positions. She reached as high as No. 23 in the ITA singles rankings on the year. In doubles, she posted a 13-7 record from the No. 1 position and was twice represented in the rankings all season, where she finished at No. 9 with partner Alina Shcherbinina and No. 33 with Roisin Gilheany. Additionally, Guzman and Shcherbinina claimed two doubles titles in the fall, winning both the ITA All-American Championship and the ITA Central Regional Championship.
For her career, she currently sits in the top-five in program history for both singles (79-28/73.8%) and doubles (87-29/75%) win percentage. Guzman earned All-American status after receiving a top-eight seed into the NCAA Championship in doubles. She was also named to the 2024 All-Big 12 First Team for both singles and doubles.
With the honor, Guzman is a finalist for the ITA National Awards, which will be announced June 13.
