Men's Tennis Ends Season in NCAA Second Round

NORMAN – The No. 11 Oklahoma men's tennis team saw the 2024 season come to an end Saturday with a heartbreaking 4-2 loss to No. 19 Stanford in the finale of the NCAA Norman Regional.
The Sooners ended the season 21-5 on the year after advancing to their 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament.
Down 3-0 early, the Sooners fought back to pull within a point of the Cardinal at 3-2. Jordan Hasson put Oklahoma on the board with a 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3. Luis Alvarez added a second point with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win at No. 4.
With the top two courts both in third sets, Stanford would clinch the match with a win at the No. 2 line. Kholo Montsi forced a third set before ultimately falling 4-6, 7-6, 6-7.
Stanford took the early 1-0 lead after picking up the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 lines.
The Cardinal extended their lead as Mark Mandlik fell 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 6 line and Justin Schlageter dropped a 6-4, 6-1 match at No. 5.
After splitting his first two sets, Alex Martinez trailed 5-3 in the third set when play concluded.
