Martinez Set for NCAA Singles Championship

NORMAN – Oklahoma's Alex Martinez is set to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma beginning on Monday, May 20.
No. 10 Martinez enters the tournament as a 9-16 seed, giving him All-American status in his final year as a Sooner. Martinez is scheduled to face Tulsa's Pierce Rollins on Monday at 9 a.m. in the opening round of the tournament.
The fifth-year senior has a 16-2 record on the season and went undefeated in conference play. He won four Big 12 Player of the Week honors and was named to the All-Big 12 first team. The Sooners had three wins over top-15 ranked teams and went 21-5 on the season with Martinez clinching five of the wins on court one. After beginning the season with a singles ranking of No. 98, Martinez claimed nine wins over ranked opponents, pushing him to obtain a season and career high singles ranking of No. 7.
