Enok Claims PR, Nine Sooners Score on Day Two of Big 12s

WACO, Texas  – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded the second day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championship late Friday night after a seven-hour weather delay.

Despite the conditions, the women's squad collected 22 points over five events, totaling 34 points for second place overall in team standings. The men's squad is in fourth place overall with 23 points.
 
2023 outdoor heptathlon national champion Pippi Lotta Enok collected the Sooners' first score of the day, grabbing third place in the women's javelin with a PR of 51.80m (169'11") on her last attempt.
 
With two top-five finishes in the men's shot put, the duo of Diego Trevino and Tucker Smith combined for 10 points toward the team score. Trevino earned a bronze medal, recording a season-best 19.44m (63'9.50") throw and Tucker Smith finished in fifth with a career-best 19.25m (63'2") toss.
 
In another late-night event, the women's long jump, Pippi Lotta Enok and Jasmine Akins combined for nine points. Akins finished in fourth with a 6.27m (20'7") mark and Enok followed in fifth with a 6.12m (20'1") jump.
 
Paige Low put more points on the board for the Sooners with a third-place finish in the women's shot put. She registered a 16.43m (53'11") throw.
 
The last scores of the night were posted in the men's long jump. Nikaoli Williams secured the Sooners' fourth bronze medal of the day with a 7.64m (25'0.75") leap. Anthony Riley closed with eighth place and a 7.36m (24'0.75") jump.
 
Before the storms, sophomore Ally Stephenson concluded her career-best heptathlon performance after posting five personal records. Her PR of 5,344 ore went for eighth place and a point for the Sooners and now ranks No. 8 in OU's all-time outdoor history.
 
Shortly after the conclusion of the heptathlon, the meet was delayed for inclement weather. Final events resumed late into the night while preliminary events were changed to timed finals on Saturday.
