Boston – Two Sooners represented the Oklahoma track and field team on day two of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the TRACK at new balance in Boston.
Sophomore BJ Green and senior Paige Low collected All-America accolades for the first time in their careers Saturday.
"We did not bring many athletes to Boston, but every single one of them made an impact on this meet and our program," stated head coach James Thomas. "One senior, two sophomores and three juniors will be returning to Norman as All-Americans. That is important for our upcoming outdoor season and future seasons."
Green finalized his stellar indoor season with sixth place in the men's triple jump for first-team All-America status. The Big 12 champion leaped to 16.15 (53-0) on his second jump, securing a spot in finals and three more attempts to seal a TJ title. On his final leap, Green would record his best mark on the night, measuring in at 16.41 (53-10.25).
"I'm proud of how BJ maintained his composure and executed in the biggest meet of his career," said assistant coach for horizontal jumps, Austin Davis. "He has a championship mindset and the right habits to go along with it."
Low entered the NCAA Indoor Championships shot put arena for the first time in her career Saturday night. Low's first attempt was her best throw on the night, registering 16.23 (53-3) to earn second-team All-America honors.
"I'm very proud of Paige for making her first NCAA Championships and earning her first All-America award," praised associate coach for throws, Andrew Ninow. "It's been a huge season of growth and I'm excited to bring this experience and knowledge to raise the bar for outdoors."
