T&F Conclude TCU Alumni Invite Early Due to Weather

Fort Worth, Texas  – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded the two-day TCU Alumni Invite early due to inclement weather at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas, Saturday evening.
 
Prior to finalizing the meet, three Sooners earned first place and 11 secured new career bests.
 
"I am extremely proud of our team. Outdoor track meets in March are always unpredictable, but I believe they handled the adverse weather and delays with the right mindset," stated head coach James Thomas. "Although our first meet was cut short, I still feel that it was a productive one."
 
On Friday, senior Paige Low earned first place in the women's discus with a career-best 57.06m (187'2") throw. This mark accounts for the third-best toss in Oklahoma discus history and the No. 1 mark in the NCAA this season. Competing for the first time this year, Amiyah Norwood recorded fifth with a 42.58m (139'8") toss. Freshman Tuane Silver registered 9.12m (128'4") for seventh.
 
Bryant Parlin grabbed third place overall and the best finish by a collegian in the men's discus, throwing to 49.11m (161'1.5").
 
The men's and women's weight throw competitions on Friday were canceled due to inclement weather.
 
Freshman Grace Hanson took on the 5,000-meter run early Saturday morning, securing fifth place with a collegiate PR of 17:56.69.
 
In the 1500m, Grace Williamson clocked in at 4:56.60 on the women's side and Peter Makuei registered a career-best 4:10.46 on the men's side.
 
The throwing squad opened Saturday's field events in the women's shot put. Tuane Silver grabbed first place with a collegiate PR of 15.74m (51'7.75"). Redshirt freshman Kennedy Clarke recorded 14.02m (46'0") for fourth.
 
Three Sooners swept the men's shot put podium. Graduate Diego Trevino took first with a 19.17m (62'10.75") score, Tucker Smith earned second with an 18.16m (59'7") mark and Bryant Parlin secured third with 17.08m (56'0.5).
 
The women's 4x100-meter relay took off for the first time this outdoor season. The team of Kennedy Crutchfield, Amanda Obijiaku, Jada Atkinson and Alexis Williams earned third place with a 45.26 time.
 
Freshman Austin Kiser recorded a collegiate PR time of 15.19 in the men's 100-meter hurdles for tenth place.
 
The Sooners earned top-five finishes in the women's 400m. Jayda Gibson secured second (55.61), Jenna James grabbed fourth (56.17) and Alyia Green took fifth (56.37).
 
On the men's side, Gage Hensey registered 48.57 in the 400m for fourth place.
 
Tessani Foster grabbed a new career-best in the women's pole vault with a jump to 4.00m (13'1.5") for second place.
 
The Sooners' final event of the day came from the women's 100-meter dash. Jordyn Price earned sixth with a collegiate PR of 12.00, Victory George grabbed eighth with a 12.07 time and Kennedy Crutchfield earned a career-best 12.09 for ninth.
 
After a series of lightening delays, any remaining events were canceled due to inclement weather.
