NORMAN – New University of Oklahoma head track and field/cross country coach James Thomas announced the Sooners' 2024 outdoor track and field schedule Monday.
This year's outdoor schedule includes one home meet, six away meets, the Big 12 Championship and the NCAA Championships.
"We are thrilled about the outdoor schedule we have planned for this year," said Coach Thomas. "It allows us to participate in high-quality competitions, mostly within our region. One of the advantages that OU has is its proximity to some of the best track meets our sport offers, along with a fantastic home track. We aim to take full advantage of this opportunity."
The team opens the outdoor season at the TCU Alumni Classic in Fort Worth, Texas, March 15-16. They are set for two away meets in Waco, Texas, at the Clyde Hart Classic on March 22-23 and in Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays March 28-30.
The Sooners will take a week off before hosting the 54th annual John Jacobs Invitational in Norman April 12-13.
The team follows with three straight meets on the road, starting with a trip to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. SAC Relays April 18-20. Next, a visit to Texas Tech for the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock, Texas, April 26-27. OU concludes the regular season in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Arkansas Twilight May 3.

The Sooners return to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA West Prelims May 22-25. If qualified, they will travel to Eugene, Ore., for NCAA Championships June 5-8.
OU sent 17 entries to last year's championships where seven athletes earned All-American honors and
Pippi Lotta Enok won a gold medal in the heptathlon.
