2024 VB Signees

Mansfield Inks Three for 2024

NORMAN – Oklahoma head volleyball coach Aaron Mansfield announced the addition of three student-athletes for the 2024 season. Carley Butler, Jasmine DelCarmen-Ellison and Whitney Wallace will join the Sooners for their first season in the SEC in 2024.

"We are very excited to welcome our first class here at OU," head coach Aaron Mansfield said. "The 2024 group helps us meet the immediate needs we have in completing a roster that will allow us to be competitive in our first year in the SEC. We are excited to help all three of these young women grow and develop in their time here at OU. We feel confident that this class will bring the drive, work ethic, and care that it will take to continue developing the culture and program that we aim to build here."


Carley Butler

Carley Butler / Outside Hitter / 6-1 / Owasso, Okla. / Owasso High School

Personal

Butler is the daughter of Walter Butler and Ashley Mueller and has three siblings. She was a member of the national honor society and named to the Tulsa Community College Deans List. With her club team, Tulsa Power Volleyball, she was named to the USAV GJNC All-Tournament Team in 2023.

OU head coach Aaron Mansfield on Butler:

"Carley is a very physical athlete with an extremely high ceiling. We have seen her make some very quick developments in her game and we are excited to get the chance to see her develop into the high-level player she can be. She will come in and immediately give us physicality and depth in the middle blocker position. We are thrilled to bring in a local Oklahoma talent to our program!"

Butler on Why Oklahoma:

"I really enjoyed the family like atmosphere and team culture, the campus and the fact that it's close to home. I'm really looking forward to having the opportunity to build, grow and compete at such a high level of competition. One great thing about being a student-athlete is you have built in friendships with your teammates. And with me being just a couple of hours away, I've been fortunate enough to be able to form those friendships early on."


Jasmin Ellison

Personal

Ellison is the daughter of Patrick Ellison and Rocelyn DelCarmen. She has one brother, Ethan. Her brother played volleyball at L'Universite du Laval. Ellison was on the 2022 Honour Roll at Bishop Allen Academy and was a member of Student Council.

"Jasmine is a fierce competitor. She plays the game with a lot of passion; her high energy and relentless style of play will be a much-needed addition to our team. Jasmine gained valuable experience training with the Canadian Junior National team and is ready to take on the challenge of competing in the SEC. We are excited and confident that Jasmine will be able to come in and make an immediate impact for us."

Ellison on Why Oklahoma:

"I decided to attend OU for the many options academically and the prestigious volleyball program. I'm looking forward to living on campus and having the opportunity to play volleyball at a university."


Whitney Wallace

Personal

Wallace is the daughter of Jon and Nancy Wallace. Her father played volleyball at UCSB and her mother played volleyball at Santa Clara University. She has two siblings, Joe and Maddie, and her brother, Joe, plays volleyball at UCSB. She plans to major in environmental design at OU.

OU head coach Aaron Mansfield on Wallace:

"Whitney has made some vast improvements over the last year due to her work ethic and dedication to learning. She has also developed her leadership abilities which we are looking forward to capitalizing on and utilizing as quickly as possible. Whitney will help set the tone for what working hard and being dedicated to her craft looks like in and out of our gym. She comes from a family that understands sport and the impact that it has on her personal development, we are excited to get her here and get her acclimated with our group."

Wallace on Why Oklahoma:

"I decided to attend OU because I really bonded with the coaches, and I know that they will bring the best out of me. I'm looking forward to all of the school spirit and playing in a competitive conference."
