NORMAN – Three members of the Oklahoma men's tennis team are set to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas from November 19-24. The draws for the tournament were released Saturday by the NCAA where individuals will compete in 64-player singles and 32-team doubles tournaments.
Junior Jordan Hasson, freshman Oscar Lacides and junior Bruno Nhavene will represent the Crimson and Cream in Waco, marking the first appearance in the tournament for all three student athletes.
Hasson will compete in the singles draw after making his way to the finals of the ITA Central Regional. He played eight matches over four days and did not drop a set on his way to the final, where he was scheduled to face off against teammate Lacides. Hasson faces Maxi Homberg of Pepperdine in the opening round of the tournament.
Lacides, the freshman from France, has had a stellar campaign in his first season as a Sooner. He qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships in both singles and doubles after a strong run at the ITA Central Regional. He went undefeated at the tournament and played a total of ten matches over four days, only losing one set. His first match of the tournament is against Corey Craig of Florida State.
On the doubles side, Lacides will compete with Nhavene. Together, they won five matches at the ITA Central Regional to claim the doubles title, including a Bedlam win over Oklahoma State's Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile, 6-2, 6-3. The pair faces Filippos Astreinidis and Paul Inchauspe of Princeton in the round of 32.
Cracked Racquets is set to provide whip-around coverage of the tournament, with individual matches being streamed through Playsight.
Matches will be played in a best-of-three-sets format with no-ad scoring. Seven-point tiebreakers (first to seven points, must win by at least two points) will be utilized to break six-games-all ties as necessary.
