ITA Regional Championships

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team will travel to Memphis for the 2024 ITA Central Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Memphis, from October 9-14.
OU is seeking berths in both singles and doubles for the 2024 NCAA Division I Individual Championships, which are automatically given to the singles finalists and doubles champions at each of the 13 regional sites. The main draws of the regional championships feature 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams.
Ten Sooners are set participate in singles and doubles competition throughout the weekend: Seniors Ava Catanzarite, Alina Shcherbinina, Emma Staker, junior Julia Garcia Ruiz, sophomores Roisin Gilheany, Chloe Noel, and freshmen Emma Ghirardato, Cara Mester, Gloriana Nahum and Salakthip Ounmuang are all to play in their second tournament of the season.
Ghirardato and Mester will be participating in the qualifying rounds, as the rest of the Sooners automatically qualified for the main draw.
Play is slated to begin at 9 a.m. CT each day. A tentative day-by-day schedule, as well as draws, can be found here.
At the 2023 ITA Central Regional, Dana Guzman and Shcherbinina captured the doubles title to become the first Sooner pairing to accomplish the feat since Carmen and Ivana Corely in 2020. Additionally, OU advanced four singles players and two doubles teams to the quarterfinals of the main draw.
