Sooners in Eighth After 36 Holes at Charles Schwab Collegiate

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma women's golf wrapped up the first 36 holes of the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate on Monday, concluding the opening day in eighth (28-over, 596). The Sooners opened the event with a 9-over 293 and carded a 19-over 303 in the second 18.
Junior Gracie Mayo led the OU lineup and carded rounds of 75-73, tying for 25th (6-over, 148). Mayo tallied two birdies in each round. She started the second round with a birdie on the par-4 10th before a bogey on the 12th. Mayo dropped her final birdie on the 17th, moving to 1-under through seven. After a double bogey on 18 and a bogey on the second hole, she recorded seven pars to wrap up her round.
Senior Reagan Chaney, junior MaKayla Tyrrell and junior Savannah Barber are tied for 31st (8-over, 150). Barber tallied rounds of 75-75, notching two birdies in the first round. Chaney recorded four birdies in the opening round, carding a 1-over 72, before a 7-over 78 to conclude the day.
Tyrell tallied the best round by a Sooner, firing a 1-under 71. She recorded four pars to open the first round before a birdie on the par-3 15th. Tyrell notched five consecutive pars and moved back to even after a bogey on the third. She drained her second birdie on the sixth and ended the round with a bogey on the 10th. Tyrell recorded an 8-over 79 in her second 18.
Freshman Audrey Rischer tallied rounds of 76-77 and tied for 45th (11-over, 153). Rischer tallied an eagle on the par-5 ninth in the first round and a birdie in the second.
