Three Sooners Appear in Preseason ITA Rankings

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis had three players slated in the Preseason ITA Tennis Rankings, the association announced Tuesday.
Senior Florencia Urrutia notched the No. 32 Women's Singles ranking. Senior Dana Guzman tallied the No. 51 slot and junior Alina Shcherbinina rounded out OU at No. 79.
Urrutia, a product of Santa Fe, Argentina, tied her previous career high with her ranking after transferring from the University of Kentucky. At Kentucky, Urritia made the All-SEC Singles Second Team in the spring of 2023.
Guzman, from Arequipa, Peru, was named to the 2023 All-Big 12 Singles First Team, the 2023 All-Big 12 Tournament Team, and posted a 26-9 overall singles record over the course of the season.
Shcherbinina, a product of Moscow, Russia, transferred to Oklahoma after spending the previous two seasons at Baylor University.. While at Baylor for the 2022-2023 season, Shcherbinina was also named to the 2023 All-Big 12 Singles First Team and tallied a 20-8 singles record in the same season.
