NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team will continue its fall slate at the ITA All-American Championships beginning Saturday in Cary, N.C.
Seven Sooners will play singles and doubles in the tournament.
Romana Cisovska,
Emma Staker,
Julia Garcia Ruiz and
Ava Catanzarite will compete in the pre-qualifying singles draw which runs Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
Catanzarite, Cisovska and Garcia Ruiz will begin play at 8 a.m. CT, while Staker will play her first match at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday.
Dana Guzman,
Florencia Urrutia and
Alina Shcherbinina are set to compete in the singles qualifying draw, beginning Oct. 2.
Guzman will pair up with Shcherbinina will pair up to compete in the pre-qualifying doubles draw at 2 p.m. CT on Sept. 30. Garcia Ruiz and
Zdena Safarova will also pair up for doubles, playing at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday.
The championship runs Sept. 30-Oct. 8 at multiple locations: Cary Tennis Park, Duke University, University of North Carolina and NC State University.
The men's and women's singles quarterfinalists, consolation finalists, plus the doubles semifinalists and consolation finalists for each gender will earn automatic entry into the ITA National Fall Championships from Nov. 1-5 in San Diego, Calif.
2023 marks the eighth consecutive season the Sooners have sent at least one player to the ITA All-American Championships. Oklahoma head coach
Audra Cohen is one of many notable winners of the tournament, capturing the singles title in 2004.
