NORMAN – University of Oklahoma men's tennis head coach Nick Crowell announced the Sooners' 2023 fall slate on Friday.
Oklahoma is scheduled to appear at seven tournaments this fall, with different student-athletes competing in varying tournaments around the country.
"Our guys have worked as hard or harder than any team in the country this fall," Crowell said. "Our preseason has been tough and challenging, we've got our goals this year and everyone is reaching for them. Now it's time to go compete and let our racquets do the talking. I'm excited for what's to come for this group."
The season kicks off with a pair of overlapping events Sept. 21-24. The Sooners will split between the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco, Calif., and the inaugural US College Cup Invitational in Torreon, Mexico.
The ITA All-American Championship follows in Tulsa, Okla., Sept. 30-Oct. 8. OU then travels to Lexington, Ky., Oct. 16-22 for the Lexington 15K Future. Concurrently, the Sooners will also compete at the ITA Central Regionals in Stillwater, Okla., Oct 18-22.
OU has its lone home tournament of the fall season with the Norman Open, from Oct. 23-29.
The month of October wraps up with the Fayetteville Futures 15K on Oct. 30 in Fayetteville, Ark. Closing out the fall slate is the ITA Fall Championships, Nov. 1-5, in San Diego, Calif.
Crowell's team returns seven players from the 2022-23 season – fifth-year seniors Baptiste Anselmo, Mark Mandlik, Alex Martinez and Justin Schlaegter, senior Nathan Han, junior Jordan Hasson and sophomore Luis Alvarez. Additionally, freshmen Kholo Montsi (East London, South Africa), Hank Trondson (Nashville, Tenn.) and Asahi Harazaki (Japan) join the squad for the fall.
The spring competition schedule will be released at a later date.
