OU Falls To No. 3 Georgia In Sweet 16

ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 13 Oklahoma women's tennis team's season came to a close on Friday night after falling 4-1 to No. 3 Georgia at Super Regionals.
Georgia came out strong in doubles to claim the opening point. No. 25 Guillermina Grant and Mai Nirundorn defeated No. 63 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth 6-1 on court two. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman fell 6-3 to Meg Kowalski and Lea Ma at the No. 3 spot.
No. 5 Carmen and Ivana Corley were down 5-4 to Dasha Vidmanova and Mell Reasco at the top court when the point was clinched.
Singles opened with a 6-0, 6-4 Georgia win on court six from Guillermina Grant over Emma Staker. No. 50 Sleeth then delivered the upset at the top court with a 6-3, 6-0 win over No. 3 Ma. UGA's No. 125 Meg Kowalski rallied to a third set on court five and took the 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 win against Garcia Ruiz.
To clinch the match, No. 4 Vidmanova claimed court two over No. 78 Guzman 7-6 (5), 6-4.
When play was halted, No. 110 Carmen Corley was tied 6-3, 1-6, 6-6 (3-6) with No. 63 Reasco on court three and Pisareva was down 6-3, 3-6, 3-4 to No. 81 Anastasiia Lopata at the No. 4 spot.

Layne Sleeth, Carmen and Ivana Corley will represent the Sooners in the NCAA Individual Championships in Orlando, Fla., on May 22-27.
