NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams begin postseason competition this weekend as they play host to the 2023 Big 12 Outdoor Championship May 12-14 (Friday-Sunday).
The Sooners are hosting the conference outdoor meet for the first time since 2019 at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex. Action begins Friday at 7 a.m. with the 10,000-meter race and will run through Sunday evening with the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays scheduled as the final events.
Live results from the Big 12 Track and Field Outdoor Championship will be available via DeltaTiming, and the meet will be streamed via Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Admission on Friday is free, while tickets for Saturday and Sunday can be purchased here.
Earlier this season at the Big 12 Indoor Championship in Lubbock, Texas, nine Sooners brought home conference titles. Sophomore Pippi Lotta Enok claimed the women's pentathlon crown, Abby Moore was victorious in the women's weight throw, newcomer Nikaoli Williams won the men's long jump title and Vernon Turner was crowned the men's high jump champion. The meet concluded with Zarik Brown, Salim Epps, Josh Bour and Muzuri Mattar running a record-setting pace in the men's 4x400-meter relay to also become Big 12 champions.
OU looks to build off a strong regular season that was highlighted by six outdoor school records and two Big 12 weekly honors. Currently, the women's team sits at No. 16 in the USTFCCCA rankings (No. 2 in the Big 12) with the women's long jump squad claiming the country's No. 1 event squad ranking. In total, six Sooner event groups are in the top 10 USTFCCCA event squad rankings.
