SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Oklahoma women's golf concluded the Big 12 Match Play opening day with 10.5 points and earned victories over Texas and TCU on Friday at
Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Sooners are tied for third with Texas and are one point behind Baylor (11.5) and 1.5 points behind tournament leader Oklahoma State (12.0).
OU earned 3-2 victories over Texas and TCU in the afternoon session and split with Texas Tech 2-2-1 in the morning. Oklahoma dropped its match against Baylor 3-2.
Emily Hun tallied a pair of victories in the morning session, beating Texas Tech's
Chiara Holder 3 & 1 and Baylor's Rosie
Belsham 1-up. Hun opened her round on the 14th and held a one-hole advantage after 10. Against Texas Tech, she took the match dormie on the 11th and won the 12th.
Mikhaela Fortuna earned a 3 & 2 victory over BU's
Britta Snyder and tied with
TTU's Shannon Tan.
Savannah Barber finished 3 & 2 against Texas Tech's
Linyu Dong.
Fortuna continued her dominance on the course and earned a 5 & 4 victory against TCU's Sofia
Barroso Sa. She added to her win tally against the Longhorns, netting a 3 & 2 victory over Texas' Bentley Cotton. Fortuna finished the opening day 3-0-1.
Reagan Chaney earned a 5 & 4 victory over TCU's Trinity King and concluded her round with a 2 & 1 win against UT's Emily Odwin. Chaney split her four matches.
To secure the match victories against the Longhorns and Horned Frogs, Kaylee Vesely tallied a 2-up victory against Texas'
Huai-Chien Hsu and Barber beat TCU's Sabrina Nguyen 1-up.
